US Trade Dollars is yet another incredibly hot coin collectible out there. With their limited mint years and interesting history, they’ve become more and more popular over the last few years. US Trade Dollars were minted exclusively for trade with Asian nations (China, Korea and Japan).
With the current rise in metal prices, some of these larger silver coins have become a bargain to purchase for additional silver stock piles. The US Trade Dollar is similar to other silver coins minted for US circulation (90% silver 10% copper), but the US Trade Dollar is a bit heavier at 420 grains. Common dollars (such as the Morgan Silver Dollar) weigh in at 412.5 grains.
US Trade Dollars were only minted from 1873 to 1885 and was designed by William Barber.
If you’re interested in purchasing US Trade Dollars, then you need to check out USTradeDollars.com for the great deals currently on eBay. Years are broken down as well as some popular search options (mints, certified, etc).
The Silver Eagle (also known as the American Silver Eagle) is the official silver bullion coin for the United States. They are only found as one-troy ounce silver rounds and is 99.9% pure silver. The coin’s obverse is the “Walking Liberty” design which first appeared on the Walking Liberty Half Dollar coin from 1916 to 1947. The reverse contains the heraldic eagle and shield.
Silver Eagles first appeared in 1986 and are still minted today. Silver Eagles appeal to silver investors as well as to the general coin collecting public. Silver Eagles can be collected by years, proofs and uncirculated types. There also have been special issues and varieties throughout the mintages which are very collectible.

Over the years, you’ve seen it. Mainly men have this, but coin based jewelry is hotter than ever. With the holiday season quickly approaching, it might be the perfect gift for the coin collecting nut in the family.
For those that aren’t too familiar with what I’m talking about, I’m referring to actual coins as the center piece for a particular piece of jewelry. This is more often worn by men, and can come in a variety of styles from money clips (Morgan Dollar money clips are quite popular), to bolo ties to pendants and rings. As I type the rings, I can think of my uncle with his Indian head penny ring. Very cool.
With this said, I wanted to point out a site that focuses on coin based jewelry called BuyCoinJewelry.com. The site allows you to quickly find and access different genres of coin jewelry and allows for searching specific coin and jewelry types. According to eBay’s data, coin jewelry is very ‘hot’ sub-niche in the world of coin collectors.

Morgan Dollar Store just announced that they released many updates to their site. Morgan Dollar Store, is a great resource and tool to find auctions on eBay related to Morgan Silver Dollars. eBay is a powerful auction platform, but can be time consuming finding the coins you’re commonly looking for. Morgan Dollar store breaks down circulation years so you can easily drill down to your desired years. Once you’re in a search result you can search for graded coins only, etc. These features are still there, but they added some great new features recently.
- Morgan Dollar Search handling. You can know search within the Morgan dollar category for specific search
- Morgan Dollar Search Cloud. This is pretty nice, it’ll show the popular searches performed by others on the site over the last three months. A good indicator of potential ‘hot’ searches or trends in the Morgan Dollar category.
- Additional Morgan dollar categories. They’re now offering additional categories like VAMs, Error Coins, Rolls, Mixed Lots, Sets and Proof coins.
- Morgan dollar mint city categories. Along with the new categories, they’re displaying mint cities: San Francisco, Philadelphia, Denver, Carson City and New Orleans.
- Morgan Dollar image gallery showing interesting example of Morgan silver dollars.
- Twitter. They’re showing recent Tweets relating to Morgan dollars. They currently don’t have a Twitter account though, so you can’t follow them.
Along with these new changes, they also mentioned future updates including comments, ratings and featured seller areas. These area great suggestions and I can see how they’re continuing to promote Morgan dollar sales and how they’re making it easier for us to find and collect these great coins.
We are extremely excited to announce our new blog and Twitter presence. We want to meet as many people as possible and writing posts related to coin collecting is a passion for us. And to be able to tweet offers and updates is a great opportunity. If you have a Twitter account and want to know about coin collecting news or offers that might interest you, please follow us.
We will still continue to list eBay auctions and provide you quick easy access to coin auctions in our newly updated site. New features include a search and ‘search cloud’ where you can see what others are searching for. Also on the home page we will be listing the most popular coin auctions. We will be introducing a ‘graded’ filter in the very near future for those collectors only interested in graded slabbed coins. We will only be showcasing PCGS and NGC grading services with the filter.
