San Francisco Silver Dollars are a very popular date and mint mark. Many silver dollar collectors feel that the San Francisco Morgan dollar is one of the most striking, most perfect coins ever made. It is certainly superb in its overall appearance. The outstanding brilliance of most specimens is outdone by few, if any, issues.
Morgan Silver Dollars are a favorite of collectors everywhere. Authorized by the Bland-Allison Act of 1878, the dollars were designed by George T. Morgan, who had been a pupil of Wyon in the Royal Mint in London. His initial M is found at the base of the neck by the last lock of hair on the obverse, and on the reverse on the left most loop of the ribbon.
Morgan Silver Dollars were made from 1878 to 1921, when the Peace dollar was adopted. Your coin has been professionally graded and comes inside a sealed, hard plastic case with a unique serial number! Grades range from MS-60 to MS=70. MS 65 and above grades are considered to be investment quality grades and are considered to be GEM quality coins. MS 66 grades are especially rare and valuable investment quality high grade coins.
